Connecting Our Youth

On March 17th, 2015 Healthy Weights Connection hosted the Connecting Our Youth Event at the Woodland Cultural Centre in Brantford, Ontario. The day was a great day filled with many activities and workshops for both youth and service providers. The youth and service providers had the opportunity to play ice breakers with mentors from Right to Play and Reztore Pride. They all participated in a spoken word activity with a mentor from Reztore Pride, had the opportunity to be creative with a medicine wheel t-shirt painting activity, participated in a community mapping activity with Gen 7 Messengers as well as played an outdoor activity called “chuck the chicken”. The service providers also had their own activity where they had the opportunity to share and discuss their successes and improvements with youth programming. It was a great day that encouraged self-confidence, empowerment and sharing; all while having fun!
